Key Elements of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda
for Buildings and Communities
According to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, health and
good fortune, as well as the development of higher states of consciousness, are profoundly influenced
by the vastu, which includes the orientation of the building, the position on the building site,
the slope of the land, the direction of entrances, proportions of the building, placement of rooms,
and the orientation of the approaching and surrounding roads.
Maharishi Sthapatya Veda has the precise knowledge
and time-tested Vedic formulas to determine the most beneficial orientation, placement and proportion.
One of the most important principles of building in
harmony with Natural Law is right direction with respect to the path of the sun, the strongest influence
of Natural Law on Earth. For this reason, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda prescribes that the entrance
to a building face East. Entrances facing South are considered the least auspicious and bring negative
influences to the inhabitants. (Click here for Footnote on Human Brain
Sensitivity to Orientation.)
Another essential element in Maharishi Sthapatya Veda
design is the Brahma-Sthan -- a central garden square in a town, or a central court or atrium in
a house, where the totality of Natural Law nourishes and upholds the entire structure, connecting
individual life with cosmic life, individual intelligence with cosmic intelligence.
In addition, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda recommends low-density
housing, non-toxic building materials and furnishings, and ample herbal
and floral gardens.
