Components
of Vedic Health Care:
A New, More Complete and
Perfect System of Health Care
Maharishi's Vedic
Approach to Health provides the following additional fields of
knowledge and programmes that are crucial to health care but
are not included in modern medical systems in the world.
1. Consciousness
-- Maharishi Yoga
The basis of human
physiology is the field of intelligence, or consciousness --
Chhinne
mule naivashakha na patram
'No branches, no
leaves in the absence of the root' is a Vedic Expression which
is true in the case of all the systems of health care that are
being practised in the world. It is surprising how this basis
of health -- consciousness -- is not yet included in the theme
of prevention and cure.
The discovery of the Veda and Vedic Literature as the
basis of human physiology (by Dr. Tony Nader, M.D., Ph.D., under Maharishi's guidance) has theoretically proved that Maharishi's Vedic
Approach to Health is a complete and perfect approach to health, and scientific research on Transcendental Meditation and the TM-Sidhi Programme
including Yogic Flying has practically proved that Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health is a complete and perfect approach to health.
The approach of
consciousness had been lacking in health care due to the absence
of a technology of consciousness.
Maharishi's Vedic
Approach to Health includes Maharishi Yoga -- Maharishi's Technology
of Consciousness: the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi
Programme including Yogic Flying -- which has been scientifically
proven to reverse all trends of ill health including a reversal
of the ageing process, promoting balanced functioning on all
levels of mind, body, and behaviour. (Refer to Scientific
Research on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi
Programme -- Collected Papers, Volumes 1 - 4 with over 5,000
pages.)
2. Cosmic
Counterparts -- Maharishi Jyotish
Maharishi's Vedic
Approach to Health includes the knowledge of how the influence
of the planets affects health, prosperity, and every area of
life. Negative influences can be neutralised through the proper
procedures.
The following diagram
shows a coronal section of the brain with its internal structures
and their one-to-one relation to the nine planets of the solar
system.

The Cosmic Counterparts
of the individual physiology have their direct influence on the
individual physiology, mind, and behaviour, and influence every
aspect of health, all the time, around the clock, day after day,
season after season, and year after year.
No one can ever
be always completely healthy unless this missing knowledge is
introduced in the health care system and unless programmes are
made available to rectify or neutralise the negative influences
that come on the individual from outside, and enhance those influences
that are positive.
Maharishi's Vedic
Approach to Health, using the forty areas of Maharishi's Vedic
Science and Technology, offers this missing knowledge in terms
of Yagya -- the Vedic Technology of Consciousness which
restores the balanced relationship between the individual and
his Cosmic Counterparts and renders all values of his intellect,
mind, senses, body, and behaviour in accord with the evolutionary
power of Natural Law.
3. Collective
Health -- Samuhic Swasthya
The influence of
Collective Health has a direct influence on the health of the
individual.
There has been
no knowledge and programme to maintain the good health of the
community or the nation, and because of this lack in health care
people suffer due to no fault of theirs -- suffering is inflicted
on them from the wrongs done by others which, polluting the atmosphere,
create stress and strain in the collective health of all the
people of the area.
The Maharishi Effect,
produced by collective practice of Maharishi's Transcendental
Meditation and Yogic Flying, is the most effective means for
the prevention and cure of collective ill health. Without this
knowledge and these programmes health care will never be complete.

4. Orientation
of Homes -- Maharishi Sthapatya Veda
When architecture
and planning are in accord with Natural Law, individual health
and well-being are promoted.
Due to the relationship
between the physiology and its Cosmic Counterparts, Maharishi's
Vedic Approach to Health includes the most ancient and complete
system of architecture and planning according to the solar, lunar,
and planetary influences on the earth with reference to north
and south poles and the equator, connecting individual life with
Cosmic Life, individual intelligence with Cosmic Intelligence.
For the healthy
orientation of homes, villages, towns, and cities, it is important
to consider the position of the house on the land; the direction
of entrances; placements of kitchen, bedroom, etc.; and approaching
and surrounding roads.
Without this knowledge
of Vastu Vidya, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, which comprises
all the forty values of Natural Law, people experience ill health
in all fields of life -- body, mind, and behaviour, including
success and fortune.
This may appear
to be an abstract and far-fetched approach in the consideration
of health care, but when one understands the principles, it is
extremely concrete, scientific, and practical.
Anyone can experience
a new dawn, a new awakening, a new freshness in his body, mind,
and behaviour, and success in his daily life by simply changing
the entrance of his house from south to east.
5. Pulse
Reading -- Maharishi AyurVeda
Health means WHOLENESS
-- 'whole' is more than the collection of parts. The perfect
approach to health requires caring for the whole and parts at
the same time. In this sense the word is 'balance' -- balance
between the whole and parts -- balance between the holistic value
of life and the individual values of life -- balance between
consciousness and its expression, the physiology -- balance between
different qualities of consciousness and their divisions and
subdivisions, and also balance between all the various expressions
of consciousness, the different parts of the physiology.

Prevailing health
care systems do not consider health in this way, and that is
why they fail to serve the purpose of health. Maharishi's Vedic
Approach to Health utilises pulse reading -- self-pulse reading
-- which not only indicates the degree of balanced functioning
of the system, but in itself is a balancing process on the very
fine level of relationship between the whole and parts. It not
only measures the degree of balance, but contributes a balancing
influence from the very level of consciousness where the parts
are connected with the whole (Measurement Theory, Physics); it
creates balance from the fundamental level of relationship.
Reading the quality
of the pulse is the only means for proper diagnosis of the condition
of the whole and its relation to the parts. The quality of the
pulse is the indicator of the degree of health or ill health
-- the balanced relationship of the whole with the parts -- and
Transcendental Meditation is a balancing influence between the
part and the whole.
Transcendental
Meditation is a natural means to create balance between the wholeness
of consciousness and its expression, the physiology -- between
the forty qualities of consciousness and their divisions and
subdivisions and corresponding areas in the physiology.
Pulse reading is
not only a diagnosis of the balanced or imbalanced functioning
of the physiology as it is influenced by diet and daily routines,
but it is also an indicator of the entire environmental influence
on the individual -- from the influence of the close environment
of his home to the cosmic influence of planets, stars, and galaxies.
All these influences contribute to his balanced or imbalanced
functioning: how much he is able to live life according to the
Laws of Nature that govern life on both levels -- consciousness
and physiology -- and on all levels of his existence, individual
and cosmic.
This field of pulse
reading is a very complete field of knowledge of health, which
is unavailable in the field of modern medicine.
Conclusion
These five values
are just a broad outline of the values missing from modern medicine.
In reality, the knowledge of the total, holistic value of Natural
Law -- Rk Veda and the Vedic Literature -- is missing
from modern medicine.
Maharishi's Vedic
Approach to Health is structured in the knowledge of Natural
Law, which must be totally incorporated in health care if health
care is to be really effective HEALTH CARE. This only can create
a perfectly healthy individual and a healthy, disease-free society.
